PERM Process

The Law Firm of Marcine A. Seid assists employees in the labor certification process to sponsor foreign workers for permanent residency (green cards).  The procedure for processing a labor certification is known as the Program Electronic Review Management System, or PERM.

The PERM labor certification process has replaced the Reduction in Recruitment (RIR) and Traditional labor certification programs.  Under PERM, the amount of time required to process recruitment and labor certification applications has been significantly reduced. It is now possible for employers to obtain a labor certification for foreign workers in less than six months instead of waiting two years or longer as under the prior process.

If you have an existing RIR application that is being adjudicated as a part of the CIS backlog, we may be able to assist you in re-filing your labor certification application under the new PERM process.  However, the new PERM certification requirements are more restrictive than the RIR and traditional requirements, so not all applications will qualify under PERM.  Please contact our office to find out if you are qualified to file under the new PERM program.
